Our History

As one of the oldest and most historically significant local government bodies in Sri Lanka, the Kandy Municipal Council (KMC) has been serving the sacred city of Kandy since its establishment. Our rich heritage and commitment to excellence have made us a model for municipal governance in Sri Lanka.

Our Mission

The Kandy Municipal Council is committed to the sustainable development, efficient administration, and cultural preservation of the sacred city of Kandy. Our mission is to provide efficient, citizen-friendly services and maintain the highest standards of governance for the well-being of our residents and the millions of visitors who come to this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
