Appreciating the service of the Urban Solid Waste Management Department staff: Annual distribution of dry ration parcels for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year. The annual distribution of dry ration parcels, organized to appreciate the dedicated service of the Urban Solid Waste Management Department staff who work tirelessly to maintain Kandy as a beautiful, healthy, and clean city, was held recently at the Town Hall under the patronage of Deputy Mayor Mr. Ruwan Galapitiya. The funds for this program are generated by utilizing a portion of the income earned from selling non-biodegradable but recyclable materials handed over by the public to the ‘Sampath Piyasa’ centers. The Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Lalantha Sanjeeva Peiris, members of the Municipal Council, and municipal staff attended the event. The program was organized by the Head of the Solid Waste Division and Municipal Mechanical Engineer, Mr. Namal Dhammika Dissanayake, and his staff, under the guidance of the Municipal Commissioner, Ms. Indika Kumari Abeysinghe.
