The subway from the Bogambara Old Prison to the Bogambara Sports Ground, constructed in parallel with the KMTT project to enable the public of the crowded Kandy city to travel safely and to ensure uninterrupted vehicular movement, was vested in the public, 2026.05.27, under the patronage of Hon. Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr. Prasanna Gunasena.
The event was attended by Central Province Chief Secretary Ajith Premasinghe, Hon. Mayor of Kandy Chandrasiri Wijayanayake, Hon. Deputy Mayor Ruwan Galapitiya, Municipal Commissioner Indika Kumari Abeysinghe, along with a group of officials from the Kandy Municipal Council, Road Development Authority, and Sri Lanka Police.
This will be of great convenience to the large number of people who visit the Kandy National Hospital, Bogambara Bus Stand, and Bogambara Stadium daily.
