On 2026/07/15, the progress of several development projects initiated centered around Kandy City was inspected. The inspection was attended by: - Chairman of the Kandy District Coordinating Committee, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation K.D. Lal Kantha - Deputy Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Prasanna Gunasena - Mayor of Kandy Chandrasiri Wijayanayaka - Deputy Mayor Ruwan Galapitiya And a group of members from the Kandy Municipal Council. During this, the following were inspected: - Getambe Flyover - William Gopallawa Road, being developed into a four-lane road - Louis Pieris Road, being developed into a two-lane road with reduction of sharp bends - Mahaiyawa Tunnel, being developed as a dual tunnel In addition to these projects, it was emphasized that several more projects are planned to be started within the next two years and completed before 2030.
